ROSEWOOD CHAIRS A. J. MILNE FOR HEALS SOLD - Designed by Andrew (Drew) John Milne, for Heals, 1947. - Manufactured by Mines and West UK, High Wycombe. - 6 available - Fully repolished and reupholstered in black calf leather. A highlight of British post war design, these elegant and sculptural chairs were originally retailed by Heals, and regarded as the pinacle of A J. Milne's designs, and indeed British design of this period. The chairs demonstrate superb craftmanship, and the skills of the traditional High Wycombe chairmaker. The six chairs that we have available are an original early set. The new uholstery is soft black calf hide over foam and stuffing replicating the original. The chairs are comfortable, and provide good back support, suitable for dining, desk chairs or occasional chairs. The black leather works well with the sculptural form, but it is also possible to discuss bespoke upholstery requirements for these chairs. In the room: oil on canvas by Henry Grub, 1921; Svend Madsen rosewood desk; mounted Pontiac hood ornament RETURN TO NEW STOCK MENU RETURN TO CHAIR MENU |
